In buying a floor lamp, one of the first challenges you are faced with is to figure out what type of floor lamp you will need - an antique floor lamp or a floor lamp with more modern styles.
Many of these so-called antique lamps have a gilded base and ornate cloth or stained-glass lampshades. Sometimes, the word "antique" is used simply to describe a hue in the finish. Antique brass is a popular finish in floor lamps. In truth, these are simply reproduction lamps. True antique floor lamps are much harder to find and are substantially more expensive, depending on their history and design. In fact, some French antique lamps sell at auctions for thousands of dollars.
Space - Do not Crowd Contemporary Lighting Pieces Together. This is usually a critical point because many folks stick a floor lamp too close to other lamps or tall pieces which only diminishes its beauty and effectiveness. Simply, do not bunch furniture, especially lighting. Due to the fact a contemporary floor lamp has a small footprint, resist the temptation to set it anywhere. Use your gut feeling, meaning if you think it may be just a little too much, it probably is so move it.
